Marimbus wetlands & Quilombola do Remanso and Roncador Natural Pools

Short description

MTB - Lençóis - Slave Vilage-Remanso/ Roncador/ SUP/Canadier

We start our tour at 08:00 in the morning leaving from Lençóis by mountain bike. After a climb of 4 km, we cross a natural sandy track for 2 hrs (26 km) to reach the small town of Remanso.  From there starts an idyllic 1.5 hour rowboat trip through the Marimbus-marsh (mini Pantanal), framed by the the Serra do Sincora mountains. The wetlands region was formed by the convergence of two rivers (Rio Santo Antônio and Rio Utinga) and is particularly fascinating because of the varied flora and fauna. On the way, you can occasionally see birds and Capuchin monkeys.  On rare occasions, you may catch a glimpse of capybaras and caimans.  After crossing the Roncador river we will cycle up to Casarão, an old country house where we will be served a typical regional lunch. We will then walk for 20 minutes  to the "pasos do Roncador" great natural whirlpools with several small waterfalls and slides. Then we bike for the next hour on the historic road connecting to Andarai before reaching the SUP base in the afternoon. After adjusting our gear and following the introduction in how-to Stand Up Paddle (you can also choose a Canadier canoe if you prefer) we will be heading into this spectacular landscape of the Marimbus-Marsh, passing lots of water lilies, different kind of birds and here and there a fisherman catching a fish for dinner. Just before our arms get tired we will reach a little beach at a river inlet in the middle of the swamp. Here we will take a rest while enjoying this magical region at the border of the Serra da Sincora. Now it’s time to paddle back to the base – in the middle of nature in this incredible part of the Chapada Diamantina - The colors are intense, the sunset unforgettable – what a beautiful day. To regain some strength again when we are back at the SUP base try some fresh coconut or sugarcane juice and if you ever wondered how Jack-fruit (Dorian fruit) pastry tastes like then let yourself be surprised with this delicious Bahian specialty, the “Pastel de Palmito de Jaca”.Contact us for more information:
