Important Note:
It is not advisable to go for a trek in the National Park of Chapada Diamantina on your own. It can be very difficult to orientate yourself – Some parts of the trails get overgrown by the vegetation easily and there are no signposts or accurate maps available.
Barro Branco-Aguas Claras, Lençóis "Advanced"
A short drive away from Lençóis we will be dropped off at the beginning of the trail just after the little village of Barra Branco. The first 7km we will make our way towards Ponem passing the Garganta de Pedra. This path was then back in time the first street connecting Lençóis with the world. After about 2 hours hiking we will see the famous flat table mountain Pai Inácio nearby. Here we just have to open a gate which will allow access into the beautiful, prairie landscape with the 3 brothers right on sight. This part of the trail is easy, with little up and downs. The scenery changes dramatically depending on the angle of how the sunlight illuminates the colorful rocks and the bush land. Next target is Aguas Claras which lies at the foot of the Morrão – the highest peak of the northern Chapada Diamantina, the last peak of the three brothers and a majestic symbol of the Capão valley. Until now winds and water still continue shaping this drum like looking flat table mountain. Far away from civilization a truely authentic Chapada Diamantina scenery. We continue a bit more uphill passing the Morrão on its left side before taking a left turn towards the Grisante and Lençóis. Now we are on the ancient trails which has been used since the diamond boom and is the shortest connection between Lençóis and Capão valley. This day is perfect to encounter all types of bromeliads, orchids and lizards. After a long hike, passing through rivers and thick vegetation we reach the top of the hill chain with breathtaking views of the valley where the Ribeirão river makes its way to the Sossego waterfall and just a bit further we can already see Lençóis in the distance – now we have a 500m descend in front of us. The trail goes steep down in some areas and the landscape changes dramatically in some parts of the trail – the flora and fauna is very diverse here and we even pass through a part of Atlantic rain forest. Just a bit more and we are back in Lençóis after in incredible walking day.

Prerequisites:
Level 3: challenging tour; is feasible for everyone in good physical condition.and sense of balance. In part, the hands must be used to cope with steep climbs in the area. Sometimes we jump over boulders in the river bed
